From November 4th 2019, the ownership of Ohridska Banka AD Skopje is changed. We are joining one of the most significant international banking institutions in the region of Southeast Europe, which will further strengthen our position on the domestic and international market with its expertise, experience, stability and dedication.

Ohridska Banka AD Skopje remains a stable stakeholder in the banking sector, a partner of the Macedonian economy, a supporter of the businesses, a bank dedicated to all its clients and employees and a community-oriented bank.

What changes have occurred at Ohridska banka?

Ohridska Banka AD Skopje has joined the family of the Austrian Sparkasse Group. Sparkasse Group now operates through two banks owned in Macedonia: Ohridska banka AD Skopje which until this change was part of Societe Generale Group and Sparkasse Bank Macedonia AD Skopje, part of Sparkasse Group since 2008.

Until the full acquisition planned for 2021, Ohridska Banka AD Skopje and Sparkasse Banka Makedonija AD Skopje will continue to act as separate legal entities, although both banks will be part of Sparkasse Group. With the expected integration, the Bank will have total assets of around 1 billion euros, making it the country's fourth-largest banking group in North Macedonia. You will be notified on time for any future changes.


Who is the new owner of Ohridska Banka?

Steiermärkische Bank and Sparkassen Aktiengesellschaft or shortly “Steiermärkische Sparkasse” („STSP“)

Steiermärkische Sparkasse Group is the largest provider of financial services in the southern part of Austria. 2 751 employees serve around 700 000 customers at 233 locations in Styria, Austria and South-Eastern Europe.

Steiermärkische Sparkasse Group consists of Steiermärkische Sparkasse and its subsidiaries and participations, including Bankhaus Krentschker & Co. AktiengeselIschaft in Austria, Sparkasse Bank dd in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sparkasse Bank Makedonija AD Skopje in the Republic of North Macedonia.


What will this change mean for me as a client?

Until the integration of the two banks into one institution there will be no changes for you as our client. The current process will not affect the terms and conditions previously agreed regarding the products and services you use. At the same time, both banks will continue to work on improving and introducing of new products and services that meet your needs.


Do I need to visit my branch?

The change of ownership of the Bank will not initiate any changes regarding you as a client. No, you do not have to visit our branch for this reason, but of course, you are welcomed and our doors are always open for you.


What about my main branch and personal banker, whether they will remain the same?

Yes, bank’s branches are located at the same address and that is where your personal bankers are waiting for you.


Do these changes affect interest rates of my loan?

No. Your loan will not be subject to change due to a change in ownership and ongoing integration, ie it will remain under the previously agreed terms.


What about my deposits? Whether interest rates will change?

The agreed conditions remain the same. Your deposits are secured at the interest rate under the concluded contract.


Will my account number remain the same?

Yes, your account number remains the same.


What will my new bank look like?

The rebranding follows as a result of joining the new group and you will notice a change in the bank's logo, colors and visual identity as a symbol of the new brand philosophy.
